POSITION –Brake Press Operator I

JOB LOCATION –Chippewa Falls, WI

STARTING DATE –Immediately

EMPLOYMENT TERM –Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE –Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) - Weekend Shift (Friday through Sunday, 5:45am to 6:15pm)

STARTING PAY –Up to $22.00 or more per hour, based on experience, plus shift differential

EDUCATION–High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE –2 years experience in a metal fabrication setting preferred; and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are seeking a Brake Press Operator II to set up and operate metal bending equipment in alignment with established quality and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and steel rulers
• Conduct routine maintenance and operational checks (clean tools, oil machines, check fluids/air pressure, safety switches)
• Select and set up tools, machines, and equipment based on specifications or Lead’s instructions
• Plan tooling and setup to optimize workflow within the department
• Understand forming effects on downstream operations and material behavior (spring back, deflection, growth/shrinkage)
• Adjust machines and tooling to correct non-conforming output
• Control RAM speeds and understand different bending techniques
• Read and apply knowledge of load thickness, bend types, tolerances, and compound tolerances
• Create and update machine programs as needed
• Complete reference sheets for complex parts and set up necessary tooling
• Maintain required certifications and cross-train in multiple workstations
• Work independently while meeting quality and efficiency standards
• Troubleshoot issues and maintain low PPM (parts per million defect rate)
• Retain knowledge of multiple jobs and consistently produce high-quality output

Qualifications

• 2 years of related experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, blueprints, memos, simple instructions)
• Knowledge of basic business math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to determine when to add shims (.010, .020)
• Knowledge of when to use different I-axis blocks
• Understanding of tooling for hemming or offsets
• Familiarity with V-opening in dies relative to material thickness
