Senior QA Analyst – API & Backend Systems (Manual Testing)

Travel: Quarterly travel to Spartanburg, SC (company-paid)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior QA Analyst with strong manual testing expertise and proven experience validating API-driven and backend systems.

This is not an entry-level or automation-only QA role. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can independently translate requirements into structured test cases, execute thorough manual testing, validate data using SQL, and partner closely with developers and Project Managers in a centralized systems environment.

This position is fully remote for candidates residing in AL, GA, SC, TN, OK, WI, UT, ID, TX, LA, or MO, with quarterly travel to our Spartanburg, SC Home Office (travel expenses covered).

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze system change requests and develop detailed, structured test cases
• Perform in-depth manual testing of API and backend system enhancements
• Execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy and integrity
• Conduct API testing using Postman, Swagger, and SoapUI
• Support and maintain automated testing frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber)
• Document defects clearly and manage tracking within JIRA (primary administrator)
• Partner with Project Managers to coordinate User Acceptance Testing
• Evaluate system readiness prior to production deployment
• Maintain QA testing environments and documentation
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance
  
  

This position reports to the QA Manager and is part of a 12-member Quality Assurance team. This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on IT or system testing experience OR
• 6 years of experience in software development, IT, or system testing
• Strong background in manual software testing within enterprise or centralized systems
• Demonstrated experience testing APIs
• Ability to independently write and execute SQL queries
• Working knowledge of JIRA
• Familiarity with Visual Studio and object-oriented programming concepts
• Experience with Selenium or Cucumber (automation exposure required)
• Advanced attention to detail and documentation skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Reliable high-speed internet (DSL or faster)
• Ability to travel quarterly
