Fire Alarm Programmer / Technician

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Programmer / Technician to join our growing team in Middlesex County, CT. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing fire alarm systems.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in the field, diagnosing system issues, and ensuring fire alarm systems are operating safely, reliably, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels and related systems.
- Perform installation, service, maintenance, and repairs of fire alarm systems.
- Diagnose electrical and system-related issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Conduct system testing, inspections, and commissioning.
- Read and interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, and system specifications.
- Troubleshoot communication, wiring, device, panel, and programming issues.
- Work with customers, general contractors, and other trades to address system requirements and issues.
- Document service calls, system changes, testing results, and repairs.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable fire codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
- Maintain a professional and safe work environment on residential and commercial job sites.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience working with fire alarm systems preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience programming fire alarm panels and systems.
- Knowledge of fire alarm installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards and applicable Connecticut fire alarm codes.
- Strong electrical and low-voltage troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls or projects.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- NICET certification is a plus.
- Connecticut fire alarm or low-voltage licensing/certifications are a plus.
