What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at SecureSpace Management?
GSA Management LLC is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to be responsible for accounting, reporting, cash management, and the administration of self-storage properties.
Objective:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain the company’s financial records and ensure that accounting records are in accordance with IFRS and GAAP and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and posts monthly journal entries
- Reviews and posts of tenant receipts and revenue transactions
- Reviews accounts payable invoices for proper coding
- Ensures that expenditure is appropriately expensed or capitalized in accordance with the company’s accounting policy
- Prepares journal entries for acquisitions and sales of properties
- Prepares journal entries for debt acquisitions and related monthly activities
- Prepares draw requests
- Prepares coding of general contractor invoices
- Reviews and reconciles the trial balance
- Prepares bank reconciliation
- Prepares monthly property financial statements and variance analytics
- Reviews daily cash positions
- Assists with external audit requests and preparation of the annual financial statements
- Prepares bank fee allocations
- Prepares monthly bank fee analysis
- Assist with treasury-related administrative work and related projects
Other Functions:
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
- A four-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field is required
- 1-2 years of accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Yardi experience is highly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and take the initiative
- Detail-oriented
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Salary Range:
- $70,000 - $80,000
