Position Overview: We are seeking both entry-level and experienced Access Control Technicians to join our team. The Access Control Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting access control systems and structured cabling infrastructure for our clients. Responsibilities:
Installation and Configuration:
- Entry-Level: Assist with the installation and configuration of access control systems under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Experienced: Independently install and configure access control systems according to client specifications.
- Program access control panels, readers, and related hardware/software components.
- Ensure proper integration of access control systems with existing infrastructure.
Structured Cabling:
- Entry-Level: Learn and assist in the installation and termination of structured cabling including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables.
- Experienced: Independently install and terminate structured cabling, perform cable management, and labeling to industry standards.
- Test and certify cabling installations to ensure compliance with performance specifications.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Entry-Level: Shadow experienced technicians during routine maintenance checks and troubleshooting activities.
- Experienced: Diagnose and resolve issues related to access control hardware, software, and cabling infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to service calls and provide timely resolution of technical problems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of installation, configuration, and maintenance activities.
- Generate comprehensive reports detailing work performed, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to provide status updates and recommendations.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to industry standards, regulations, and best practices for access control and structured cabling.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures while working on-site.
- Identify and mitigate potential security risks related to access control systems.
Qualifications:
- Entry-Level:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interest in technology, electronics, or related fields.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Experienced:
- Proven experience as an Access Control Technician or similar role.
- Proficiency in installing and configuring access control systems and structured cabling.
