- Build and maintain a profitable commercial lines book of business
- Evaluate new submissions within underwriting authority, determining risk acceptability, pricing, terms, and conditions
- Conduct occasional on-site risk inspections and analyze financials, loss runs, and inspection reports
- Identify reinsurance needs and recommend appropriate coverages or endorsements
- Ensure accurate documentation, policy issuance, billing, and underwriting rationale
- Develop strong relationships with independent agents to generate profitable business
- Regularly visit agencies to solicit new business, communicate underwriting appetite, and improve submission quality
- Support agency recruitment, development, remediation, or termination based on performance
- Manage territory performance to achieve growth, profitability, retention, and objectives
- Monitor submission flow, hit ratios, loss trends, and key underwriting metrics
- Negotiate pricing and terms competitively while maintaining underwriting discipline
- Use data and reports to drive production and renewal results
- Partner with Claims, Loss Control, Premium Audit, Billing, and Underwriting teams to ensure effective account servicing
- Contribute to discussions on market trends, agency performance, and portfolio strategy
- Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Professional designations : AU, CPCU, CIC, ARM
- Experience advising agencies on underwriting strategy and book performance
- 5 years of commercial insurance experience, including multi-line underwriting
- Proven risk analysis, sales, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to independently manage a territory and interpret performance data
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record consistent with the terms in SECURA's Fleet Vehicle Manual
- Travel with overnight stays
