Head of Security – Secrets Cocktail Garden

Secrets Cocktail Garden is seeking an experienced, professional, and highly disciplined Head of Security to oversee all security operations for our upscale restaurant, lounge, and nightlife venue located in the heart of Jackson Ward in Richmond, VA.

This is a leadership role responsible for maintaining a safe, controlled, and professional environment for guests, staff, and ownership while protecting the culture, reputation, and standards of the Secrets brand.

The ideal candidate understands hospitality-driven security. We are not looking for aggressive “club security.” We are looking for leadership, presence, professionalism, strong communication, and operational control.

Compensation:
$18–$20 per hour

Schedule:
Wednesday–Sunday Evenings
Must be fully available during all operating hours, including late-night closings.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all venue security operations
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise security staff
• Enforce venue policies, dress code, and guest conduct standards
• Monitor crowd control and maintain safe occupancy flow
• Conduct ID verification and entry screening procedures
• Complete detailed incident and disturbance reports
• Coordinate with management during high-volume events and VIP operations
• Monitor cameras and oversee overall property safety
• Conduct exterior patrols and maintain security presence around the building
• Handle conflict resolution and de-escalation professionally
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders when necessary
• Ensure all guards maintain professionalism, appearance, and hospitality standards

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of nightclub, lounge, hospitality, or high-volume venue security leadership experience
• Active Virginia DCJS Security License required
• Must be legally licensed to carry firearms if armed security services are provided
• CPR and First Aid Certification preferred
• Strong background in de-escalation, crowd management, and incident response
• Must have reliable transportation
• Strong communication and leadership skills required
• Experience working in upscale nightlife or hospitality environments strongly preferred

Insurance & Liability Requirements:

• Candidate must maintain active personal or company liability insurance coverage related to security operations
• Proof of insurance must be provided and maintained throughout employment
• Secrets Cocktail Garden must be listed as an Additional Insured on all applicable policies
• Candidate understands they are responsible for the actions, conduct, and oversight of all security personnel operating under their supervision
• Candidate may be required to provide documentation related to licensing, insurance coverage, incident reporting procedures, and compliance standards before employment begins

This position requires professionalism, emotional control, accountability, and leadership under pressure. The Head of Security will play a major role in protecting the guest experience, staff safety, and operational integrity of Secrets Cocktail Garden.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
