Second Start's Nevada location, Newton Learning Center, has an amazing opportunity for a School Administrative Assistant who has a passion working with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This position will begin at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide professional clerical support for the school
- Answer phones, take messages, and give information to intended personnel
- Creates a welcoming environment, greets students and families and directs visitors to check-in procedures
- Process and track inquiries including completing intake sheets on individuals interested in the school, schedule prospective parent tours and student school visits with appropriate school staff, (e)mailing of school brochures and/or other pertinent information, and follow up with all parties to deadline or offer enrollment
- Register new students and enter student data into computerized student record system
- Manage student record system by enrolling, transferring and withdrawing students, receiving and sending records, and maintaining student files
- Ensures distribution and receipt of critical student information from parent and student handbook, intake packets and emergency contact information
- Administer parent-approved medications and contacts parents in medical emergencies
- Maintain current staff and student rosters
- Monitor student attendance, inform school staff of attendance concerns and submits attendance report to the finance department
- Assists finance department in student billing processes
- Directly assists the school director with critical organization functions including but not exclusively: school certification, annual renewal process, grant research and writing, professional training and presentations, critical organization records (OSHA, Health, Fire, MSDS, etc)
- Monitor and supervise students during staff meal and rest periods, unstructured times and/or off-campus activities
- Work with vendors to ensure campus safety, school site maintenance is performed and HOA, CDE and municipal requirements are met
- Maintain clean, safe, healthy and professional school environment including straightening and light cleaning as needed
- Works directly with Human Resources on all employee issues; hiring, onboarding, paperwork, training, benefits, and awards
- Planning and execution of fundraising events
- Assisting with social media channels and school marketing campaigns
- Responsible for coordination of school special events, training, and marketing as directed by the School Director or Executive Director
- Duties to assist Executive Director as assigned such as; scheduling appointments, collaborate on events, and school activity information
- Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the organization
- Must be able to represent Second Start/Newton Learning Center in a professional manner
- Must have working knowledge of the operation of non-profits and/or non-public school
- Knowledge of Federal Title Funding for private schools
- Must have the ability to be flexible to diversification and change and work under pressure
- Demonstrate the ability to read, speak and write in the English language professionally
- Ability to work with staff, students, volunteers and families with learning disabilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft and Google suite
- Proficiency with social media platforms and marketing experience preferred
- Ability to independently prioritize and process workflow
- Ability to handle confidential matters professionally
- Knowledge and experience with student record database systems helpful
- Demonstrated abilities to be a good team player

- High school diploma required, Bachelor degree preferred
- Two years office experience required without bachelor degree, highly preferably in an educational setting
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
- Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs a distance of 50 feet
- Must be able to perform repeated pushing and/or pulling movements
- Must be able to effectively use a computer and telephone
- Some local travel may be required
