What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Safety Manager Substitute position at SEC SHIELD?
SEC SHIELD is seeking an on-call School Safety Manager substitute to provide coverage at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology. This position is strictly as needed and is intended to cover absences when the regularly assigned School Safety Manager is unavailable.
Work assignments may be infrequent, and candidates should understand that they may only be needed once or a few times during the school year. Applicants must be able to respond to short-notice call-offs on scheduled school days.
The selected candidate will be required to complete the NASRO Basic School Resource Officer Course or equivalent training. Prior experience in school safety, security, or a related field is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Prior law enforcement background, public service, first responder, or military experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, school staff, community and public safety authorities.
- Ability to physically manage student altercations.
- Experience with crowd control/security.
- Awareness of a variety of illegal substances.
- Ability to work with administration, staff, community members, students and safety/security personnel in a cooperative manner.
- Appropriate training and preparation to meet position requirements or willingness to participate in required training.
- Ability to use/learn related technology tools (i.e., security cameras).
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as SEC may find appropriate and acceptable.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor student activity in all areas of campus, both inside and outside.
- Supervise campus and lunch room area.
- Refer discipline, security, and attendance situations to appropriate personnel.
- Provide incident management and ongoing safety/security consultation as needed.
- Provide appropriate emergency training and other SEC training to staff as needed.
- Enforce all district policies and procedures related to safety and security.
- Assist with traffic control and supervision during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Evaluate policies, procedures, and infrastructure to assess any gaps in security measures.
- Supervise extra-curricular functions at the district's request.
- Complete incident report forms when Safety Manager intervention is required.
- Ensure parking guidelines are followed during the school day and when supervising extra-curricular activities.
- Escort students to their classroom or administration office when arriving late or are wandering the halls.
- Maintain SHIELD certification by participating in annual training.
- Other safety and security duties as assigned by SEC SHIELD/School District designee.
