What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bar Manager position at Sebago Brewing Co?
Position Summary: To oversee the operations of the bar by providing accurate accounting and inventory of bar products, strong leadership and training to the staff, and creativity and encouragement in the creation of new bar specials and promotions.
Major Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Interviewing, hiring, promoting, disciplining and terminating staff members.
- Processing bar cash and server cash drops.
- Understand and enforce Maine Liquor rules and regulations and ensure that all bar and wait staff are trained appropriately in this area.
- Accurate inventory and ordering of bar products.
- Creating the bar staff schedule.
- Take initiative on developing new drinks, and encouraging the staff to do the same.
- Monitor labor hours, liquor cost, and staffing, and be held accountable.
- Ensure that all safety and sanitation procedures are understood and complied with by staff.
- Handle guest complaints in a calm and appropriate manner.
- Ensure that staff are following company policies and procedures on limiting alcohol consumption (cutting off), and checking identification of bar patrons.
- Report any and all staff, product, or equipment issues to General Manager.

- Ability to handle and operate knives and equipment.

- Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls, strains, and burns.
- Ability to stand for eight hours.
