Theatrical Service Technician - Audio/ Video (Seasonal)

As a Theatrical Services Tech, you’ll be responsible for assisting with the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all Entertainment and Park audio/video systems.

What you get to do:

  • Perform theater/stadium opening and closing duties and daily systems inspections
  • Setup and operate daily performances and special events as a stagehand, audio operator or camera/video equipment operator
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair theatrical equipment
  • Ensure assignments are met and department policies are adhered to
  • Assist Production team with installations for new shows, special events or Consumer Events
  • Monitor and take initiative to ensure assigned show area is 100% show ready, safe and clean at all times
  • Work with Stage Manager to complete assigned daily tasks and complete project list items
  • Pursue personal development of skills and capabilities for effective performance through ongoing training, project assistance and independent study of each field
  • Practice safety as it pertains to SEA Best Practices and Rigging Standards and all other relevant industry guidelines. Safe work habits including, but not limited to, the use of personal protective equipment, pass a respirator fit test, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations.
  • Fosters a professional work environment displaying both team and individual contributions.
  • Adhere to all SeaWorld and departmental policies.
  • Develops an awareness of guest satisfaction with the SeaWorld product
  • Demonstrate and encourage a positive-attitude work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What it takes to succeed:

  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license required
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a theme park/theatrical environment with specific training in at least one of the following areas: Video, Audio or Equipment Repair
  • Able to obtain a SWSA driver’s license; boom lift and fork lift certifications.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging, electrical practices, audio/video components and wireless systems
  • Knowledge of audio system components, active and passive speakers, amps, consoles and related equipment
  • Ability to work professionally, responsibly and safely in a team environment
  • Be comfortable operating computers and computerized control systems used in theatrical performances
  • Have good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally via headset
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work at heights between 6 and 65 feet to include working on catwalks, boom lifts, man-lifts, etc.
  • Ability to stand, bend or kneel for long periods of time
  • Be able to bend, reach, twist and turn with complete flexibility
  • Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds
  • Be comfortable working in theater and outdoor environments (dark/nighttime conditions, in/around water, in varying weather conditions)
  • Able to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude to ensure excellent guest service to include excellent service to guests and team members
  • Able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme weather conditions
  • Be comfortable working around animals
  • Be comfortable with exposure to noise and vibrations
  • Ability to train on and properly use protective gear
  • Be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
  • Willing to comply with and ensure team members comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
  • Able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.
  • Be available to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours; i.e be able to work opening and closing shifts, as well as event rehearsal shifts
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • perform other duties as assigned

What else is important:

  • Training or certifications for relevant installation, programming, or repair such as Christie, Panasonic, Daktronics, Blackmagic (video); Q-Sys, Shure, Lectrosonic, Dante (audio)
  • Experience with industrial vehicles or watercraft, such as a high reach, forklift, scissor lift, barge, john boat preferred
  • Basic understanding of the following disciplines: electrical theory, use of basic hand tools
  • Deployment and installation of audio/video plots for all related events.
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair of all audio/video systems, equipment and hardware.
  • Assist with training and development of all lower level audio/video personnel.
  • Support Park wide special events with set-up, operation and strike of audio/video systems as needed.
  • Practice safety as it pertains to SEA Best Practices and Rigging Standards and all other relevant industry guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook equal to business needs preferred
