• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG systems.
• Ensure accuracy in coding to facilitate precise medical billing and reimbursement processes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements to ensure compliance.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently for data entry, coding, and record management.
• Support the training of new staff on coding protocols, medical terminology, and documentation standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, and ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10).
• Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, medical records management, and healthcare reimbursement procedures.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and record keeping. ECW a plus
• Excellent understanding of medical terminology, clinical documentation practices, and healthcare regulations.
• Prior work experience within a medical office environment is highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills for accurate code assignment.
