What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinated School Health - Mental Health Case Manager - 1.0FTE position at Seattle Public Schools?
This position coordinates comprehensive, wraparound mental health and social support services for at-risk youth, including students who are chronically truant, at risk of dropping out, pre-adjudicated with pending charges, and/or impacted by community violence. Services include prevention, early intervention, and case management to reduce risk factors and improve stability and school engagement.
The role ensures cross-system collaboration among schools, probation, families, and community-based providers, and connects students to appropriate educational, behavioral health, and community supports. As well as support development and implementation of school based safety planning.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support SPS Postvention response following destabilizing events (e.g., student loss).
- Provide consultation to school leaders on mental/behavioral health and discipline practices.
- Facilitate professional development for school-based staff ie. CPI, ESA Suicide Prevention and Intervention, Mental Health etc.
- Support school-based Threat Assessment and Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention efforts.
8th grade students who will be enrolling in assigned high school. (5%)
5. Participates in Professional Learning Communities and consults with
classroom teachers, paraprofessionals and/or parents to help them in
understanding and meeting the needs of individual students. (5%)

practices; communicates findings, as appropriate. (5%)

A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or related field.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Education, Psychology or related field and one (1) year of work experience providing counseling, case management, or related services to school-aged youth.
Years of Experience:
Three (3) years of experience providing counseling, case management, or related services to school-aged youth.
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid Washington State ESA Certification; valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility; current first and CPR certificates.
Clearances:
Criminal justice fingerprint and background check.
Information on outside agency and community resources available to support students and families.
Understanding professional learning communities within schools.
Cultural competency for working with students and families.
Skills in
Use of data to inform activities.
Proficient use of PowerPoint, Excel, and other Microsoft products
Ability to drive and use personal vehicle
Abilities to:
Be personable and collaborative in providing services
Work a flexible schedule and attend evening meetings
