Position Overview
We are seeking an attorney to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional with some litigation background to contribute to our firm's continued success. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload, work closely with partners and clients, and develop their legal skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage litigation matters from intake through trial or settlement, including case analysis, legal research, and strategy development
· Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents
· Conduct depositions, take testimony, and manage witnesses
· Perform legal research using online legal databases and other resources
· Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and outcomes
· Participate in discovery negotiations and settlement discussions
· Prepare for and attend court hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings
· Collaborate with attorneys and staff on complex matters
· Maintain accurate case files, timekeeping records, and billing information
Experience
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
· Active license to practice law in Washington State
· Minimum 2 years of litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
· Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
· Experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
· Professional judgment and attention to detail
· Strong work ethic and commitment to client service
Preferred Qualifications
· Trial experience or experience preparing for trial
· Experience with alternative dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration)
· Familiarity with litigation management software and legal research platforms
· Strong client relationship and business development skills
· Previous experience in a small firm environment
