North Seattle College is looking to hire a Recreation and Athletic Specialist 2.
Salary Range for this position is $49,272.00 - $64,476.00 annually (DOE)

This position is typically scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-11pm. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
This position works 100% of the time on-site
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director, the Recreation and Athletic Specialist 2 will be responsible for the development, planning, and execution of wellness related programming and events. The Recreation and Athletic Specialist 2 plays a key role in supporting the health, wellness, and recreation goals of North Seattle College. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of recreation programs, fitness initiatives, wellness workshops, community events, and intramural/club sports activities that promote student engagement, community building, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in program planning, event planning, recreation and sports management, and a passion for supporting diverse student populations through inclusive programming.
This position helps to supervise student staff and part-time hourly staff serving as Front Desk Attendants.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

What You Will Be Working On
- Supports the planning, organization, and direction of on- and/or off-campus intramural and extramural recreational revenue/nonrevenue-producing sports activities in coordination with the Recreation Specialist 3, Director, student committees, sports clubs and social agencies; prepares schedules and facilities to support intramural or extramural competition
- Develops schedule of wellness activities to meet needs, interests, and abilities of students, employees, and community members.
- Leads, trains, and coordinates employees in recreation and wellness programming
- Plans, organizes, and directs part of recreation and wellness program
- Recommends and initiates programs or changes to existing programs
- Assists, or contacts, community resources in planning for special events
- Publicizes and promotes recreational revenue/nonrevenue-producing sports activities, wellness programming, classes, and community events
- Assists in planning and administering operating budgets for programs
- Confers with Director and Recreation Specialist 3 to determine recreation and wellness program for individuals or groups; participates in coordinating meetings and conferences with institutional supervisory personnel
- Prepares oral and written progress and adjustment reports; maintains records; prepares written reports to assess facilities and evaluate programs; participate in special studies related to the impact of the recreational/sports/wellness programs on the institution
- Administers procedures for equipment purchase and inventories; arranges for equipment repairs and maintenance
- Supervises and coordinates services of volunteers assigned to recreation and wellness programs and events
- Trains student staff, officials, program coordinators, building attendants, building supervisors, and volunteers for implementation of a program
- Assigns, instructs, and checks the work of assigned employees
- Supports front desk operations and assists, instructs, and trains Front Desk Attendants as needed.
- Performs other work as required.
What You Bring As a Candidate
- A bachelor's degree involving major study in either (a) recreation (b) education or physical education or (c) psychology, sociology, or education with a minor in recreation or physical education, and one year of paid, professional recreation experience.
- OR (1) one year of experience as a Recreation and Athletics Specialist 1.
- OR equivalent education/experience
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Marketing and promotion experience
- Team collaboration and relationship-building experience
- Adaptability and availability (must be available to work non-traditional schedule
