South Seattle College is looking to hire a Full-Time, Tenured Track Faculty member for our Adult Basic Education program.
The salary range for this position is $92,571-$109,633. Please note that initial salary placement for new faculty is generally at Step 11 ($92,571 annually).

Overview
Under the supervision of the Dean of Transitional Studies, this faculty member will be teaching a wide variety of students from many linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This faculty member will be teaching students in our High School 21 program, our GED Program, and our College Prep Program.
As part of our Transitional Studies department, adults who lack a high school diploma now have a new way to get a second chance. The program is called High School 21 , and it allows students to earn high school credit by completing coursework in our Transitional Studies division.
GED® classes are for adults, age 16 and older, who want to improve their skills and prepare for the GED® tests.
College Prep courses teach skills in reading, writing, math, and technology, to prepare adult students for college level coursework, particularly in English and Math.
Together, these important programs help students earn their high school credentials, enter employment, and begin college-level studies.

The Successful Candidate:
- Participates in department, division, and college committee work.
- Collaborates on departmental issues by working with faculty colleagues on curriculum development and taking an active leadership role in ongoing department development and improvement plans.
- Collaborates with departmental colleagues in the placement and assessment of students.
- Master's degree in Adult Education or in a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching GED, high school completion, and adult education students in classes at a range of levels in community or technical colleges or at community-based organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in furthering the educational development of adult learners from diverse backgrounds (such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic) and with diverse physical and learning abilities.
- Demonstrated experience with a wide range of appropriate teaching methods, instructional materials, and forms of assessment.
- Awareness of diverse learning styles and demonstrated experience in applying that knowledge to the development of teaching materials as well as the delivery of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology to enhance instruction, such as virtual/remote instruction, synchronous and asynchronous lessons and activities, online learning management systems, open-source materials, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively and fluently in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to adapt and learn technology (i.e., Ctclink/PeopleSoft, MS 365 ) sufficient for professional duties.
- Demonstrated efficiency in keeping detailed, accurate records and meeting multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration with colleagues in setting division, departmental, and/or classroom policies, handling division and/or departmental problems.
