Weekend Studio Operations Assistant

Seattle Artist League is looking for a practical, observant, and highly organized person to keep our school running smoothly on weekends and help improve how our spaces function.

This is an active, interruption-heavy position. The weekend assistant answers the front door throughout the day while cleaning, organizing, maintaining the studios, and completing improvement projects. The right person can notice what needs attention, choose a sensible next step, and return to a project after being interrupted.

The position primarily supports our drawing and painting studios, gallery, office, and common areas.

Responsibilities

• Answer the front door promptly throughout the day
• Help students, instructors, and visitors find what they need
• Monitor and reset classrooms and common areas
• Clean and organize the studios
• Improve and maintain storage systems for art materials and equipment
• Complete touch-up, and small facility-improvement projects
• Keep the entry, gallery, kitchen, hallways, bathrooms, and shared spaces functional and presentable
• Notice maintenance or safety problems and communicate them clearly
• Unload and reload a kiln on Sundays (training available)

We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Takes initiative and works well without constant direction
• Enjoys making physical spaces cleaner, clearer, and more functional
• Can prioritize among several competing tasks
• Can handle frequent interruptions without losing track of projects
• Is reliable, punctual, and consistently available for both Saturday and Sunday shifts
• Communicates clearly with students, instructors, and staff
• Is comfortable working independently in a busy art-school environment
• Has experience in studio operations, facilities, galleries, schools, offices, retail operations, events, or another hands-on environment

Art experience is welcome but not required. Organizational ability, practical judgment, and follow-through are more important than expertise in a particular medium.

Seattle Artist League is an artist-run school in Georgetown offering drawing, painting, and ceramics classes. We are looking for someone who enjoys improving systems, solving practical problems, and helping a creative community function well.
