Summary: Operates forklift to lift, move, and position loads of steel within the production facility; other duties may be assigned.

Salary: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Most employees start between $21 and $22.50.  The higher end of the range, $24, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.

Shift: Mon-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Trained and certified by Seaport Steel to operate a forklift to load Material and determine the safety of a load.

  • Regulate the speed and direction of the forklift movement to ensure the safe movement of material.

  • Uses chains banding or strapping as required for safe movement or loading material.

  • Maintains clean workspace and reports any necessary maintenance of equipment.

  • Required to inspect forklift for defective parts and notifies the supervisor of defects or malfunctions.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
