Forklift Operator (Swing Shift)
Summary: Operates forklift to lift, move, and position loads of steel within the production yard and facility; other duties may be assigned.
Salary: $21.45 -$26.81/hr
Most employees start between $21.45 and $24.13. The higher end of the range, $26.81, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.
Shift: Mon-Fri, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Benefits: eligible after 30 days month following employment
PTO: prorated award and annual award in January
Holiday Pay after 30 days of employment
Employee Engagement Program: Eligible day after employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Actively participate in Seaport Steel's safety program.

Unload Material from Rail Cars and trailers and store them within designated areas based on material.

Load Material to Trailers based on work order instructions.

Inspect the forklift before using it.

Clean work area daily: Cut wood from railcars and store it in the designated work area.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.

Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Math Ability

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
- Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement.
Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
