The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machines used to process paper products. This includes sheeting, slitting, and other converting machines. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various paper converting machines (e.g., sheeter, slitter, crepe streamer machines).
- Load and unload paper rolls using forklifts, clamp trucks, and overhead hoists.
- Thread materials through machines and adjust settings such as knives, tension, and alignment as needed.
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments for optimal performance and product quality.
- Maintain proper levels of supplies such as glue and packaging materials.
- Perform hourly quality checks, including measuring roll length, weight, and diameter.
- Complete and verify production paperwork accurately (e.g., production counts, QC forms).
- Collaborate with team members to rotate duties and provide assistance during breaks or high-volume periods.
- Identify and report product defects, mechanical issues, or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure work area and machinery are kept clean and meet food-safe and safety standards.
- Assist with training, cross-training, and supporting departmental improvements.
- Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Basic math, measurement, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
- Forklift and hoist experience a plus (certification provided upon employment).
