What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Service Rep (Electro-Mechanical Experience Needed) position at Sealed Air?
Position Summary
This position will provide technical support for our Food Customers. This person has a geographic territory of 10-40 customers, and they will, in conjunction with one or more Sealed Air Sales people, work to ensure each customer feels supported in their packaging needs. We have around 50 TSRs in North America, with each one having their territory. The biggest part of the job is to get to know the packaging equipment in your customer’s plants and work with them to keep the equipment running and well-maintained so the Cryovac materials (bags, plastic film, etc) run well on the machines. You will inform your customers of safety regulations, technical information, modifications, improvements, etc., on the equipment as needed. You will be asked to document the work you do in ServiceMax, Concur, Fleet, and other venues so this information can be shared with others within and without the organization as appropriate in a timely fashion. You will maintain customer relationships with regular service calls (cell phone and plant visits), equipment audits, and the like, and be asked to help promote selling Cryovac parts and equipment as you gain experience and expertise.
Job Description
Work in wet and/or cold food production environments with personal protective equipment required (hard hat, ear and eye protection, steel-toed shoes).
You will be on call and must be willing, as circumstances demand, to drop what you are doing and take phone calls and travel to customer sites to help them when they are in crisis. There is weekend work as well as regular weekday work. You will manage your schedule, knowing that there are some long days and weekends that you will be required to participate in. It is expected that you will work, on average, 40 or more hours per week.
The technical work is mechanical, electrical, and electronic. The equipment you will be working on is sophisticated, and because of the harsh environment (cold, wet production floors) they are in, the equipment occasionally breaks down. You will need to be able to think on your feet and deal with the pressures associated with the break/fix world in fast-moving and demanding production facilities.
Provide equipment troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance services to customers.
Complete all administrative requirements for documentation of service activity, monthly reports, and expenses.
