Job Title: Senior System Engineer
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Hybrid 3 days on-site in lower Manhattan, 2 days remote
Description: Senior Sr. Systems Engineer supporting a hybrid environment with heavy on-prem expertise and AWS exposure. Ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house and cloud-based information systems that support core organizational functions. This individual applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to lead the design, deployment, and troubleshooting of complex Windows server environments.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Infrastructure Management: Own and maintain Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022 ) with a focus on uptime, security, and performance optimization.
- Storage Administration: Support diverse on-prem storage solutions including Dell PowerScale and vSAN.
- Messaging Systems: Manage and optimize Exchange infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.
- Cloud & Virtualization: Support hybrid environments across VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Azure, and AWS.
- Directory Services: Administer Active Directory, Entra ID, GPOs, DNS, and DHCP. Ensure stability and proper access controls.
- Automation & Scripting: Build and maintain PowerShell automation to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
- Project Delivery: Lead system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments. Partner with cross-functional teams to execute.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce security standards, monitor systems, and support audit and disaster recovery efforts.
- Escalation Support: Act as Tier 3 or 4 escalation for complex issues. Perform root cause analysis and drive long-term fixes.
- Documentation & Mentorship: Maintain technical documentation and SOPs. Support and mentor junior admins.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with vendors and internal teams to align solutions with business needs.
Required Skills:
- Domain: Financial Services or Legal Services / Corporate Law
- Previous on-prem to AWS migration experience
- 10 years of professional experience in a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer role within an enterprise environment.
- Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and related Microsoft technologies (Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server).
- Strong proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Comprehensive understanding of PowerShell scripting and automation best practices.
- Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security principles.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are highly valued.
Salary : $160,000 - $190,000
