The Production Planning and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the production schedule to meet customer demand, optimize manufacturing efficiency, and support on-time delivery goals. This position ensures adequate inventory levels of raw materials and purchased components, coordinates with suppliers and internal teams, and manages the timely shipment of finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning
· Create, maintain, and adjust the master production schedule based on customer orders, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacities.
· Collaborate with production supervisors to ensure schedule adherence and resolve conflicts or constraints.
· Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
Inventory Management
· Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure availability without overstocking.
· Coordinate procurement activities with the Supply Chain or Purchasing department to maintain optimal inventory levels.
· Review material requirements planning (MRP) reports and update based on current production plans and demand forecasts.
Logistics and Shipping Coordination
· Plan and coordinate outbound shipments of finished goods to customers, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with customer requirements.
· Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and warehouse personnel to optimize shipping costs and schedules.
· Maintain accurate shipping records and monitor performance metrics related to on-time delivery.
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Communicate production and shipping schedules to internal departments including Sales, Customer Service, and Procurement.
· Participate in regular production meetings and provide updates on material availability, scheduling risks, and delivery status.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, inventory control, and logistics processes.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• 2–5 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling, or supply chain
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment required
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Proficiency with:
o ERP/MRP systems
o Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related
• Experience in metal fabrication, assembly, or discrete manufacturing
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Salary : $58,000 - $63,000
