They are looking for a Transportation Project Manager who enjoys collaborating with people, leading meaningful infrastructure projects and helping local communities move forward. If you like a mix of state level roadway work and hands on municipal projects, this role offers both.
Role Overview
This position manages a variety of transportation projects, from INDOT roadway improvements and safety upgrades to smaller municipal resurfacing, reconstruction and multimodal initiatives. The Project Manager will work closely with internal engineering teams and serve as a trusted point of contact for INDOT districts, city engineers and county staff. It’s a role for someone who values teamwork, steady communication and seeing projects make a real impact on the communities they serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transportation and roadway design projects for INDOT as well as cities and counties across Indiana
- Develop scopes, schedules and budgets while keeping clients informed and engaged
- Guide the design of roadway geometry, drainage features, traffic control plans and construction documents
- Coordinate with utilities, permitting agencies, subconsultants and internal design groups
- Support construction phase activities including site visits, progress meetings and technical input
- Mentor junior engineers and help create a collaborative team environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer license in Indiana or the ability to obtain it
- 7 years of experience in transportation design with exposure to both INDOT and municipal projects
- Comfort with INDOT standards and processes along with an understanding of how local agencies deliver projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer or similar design tools
- Strong communication skills and an approachable style when working with public agencies and stakeholders
