Project Manager / On-Site, Lighting Controls
Winter Park, FL On-Site

Remember the one in your group who always knew what had to happen next? They were the one tracking the details, keeping people aligned, following up before things slipped, and stepping in early before small issues became big ones. They didn’t make excuses. They took ownership, kept commitments, and made sure the job got done. If that sounds like you, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.

At ZIO, we do more than design and install AV and lighting control systems. We create the experience by focusing on the outcome. We transform boardrooms, hotels, resorts, luxury homes, and other commercial environments into spaces where every piece of technology works together seamlessly. That level of execution takes more than technical knowledge. It takes project leadership, disciplined communication, proactive planning, and someone who treats every commitment like it matters.

What We Do

We partner with owners, designers, and managers of luxury residential, commercial, hospitality, and institutional properties in the Southeast U.S. who value trusted advisors to solve complex building technology challenges. We solve problems with the best solutions by designing, installing, and supporting smart technology. We’re proud to partner with top-tier platforms like Lutron, Crestron, Q-Sys, Biamp, and others—and we never stop raising the bar.

We’re looking for a Project Manager, Lighting controls professional that will be responsible providing on-site support, system programming, server software deployment and maintenance, system design and project delivery field support. ZIO provides leading solutions to meet the unique lighting control needs of large facilities and campuses, and this role is a fast-paced multi-faceted opportunity to work in a variety of environments. You’ll work with ZIO’s relationship management team to perform needs analysis and design solutions for new projects, our lighting projects team to provide local on-site support to commission new systems, and our world-class support team to provide ongoing support for existing systems. The position requires active participation and coordination with clients and their vendors as well as internal meetings with various people on the engineering team to fully evaluate and develop and deliver the needs of the client.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Project Manager at ZIO, you will serve as the primary point of coordination and accountability for assigned projects. You will work under the Operations Manager and be responsible for ensuring your projects move forward with clarity, urgency, and follow-through.

This role is not just about keeping a schedule updated. It is about owning the outcome. The Project Manager is the primary interface with internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for keeping projects organized, resourced, communicated, and moving. Schedule, material, labor coordination, issue resolution, and proactive communication all sit with this role.

You will:

  • Act as the primary interface for assigned projects with clients, general contractors, trades, owners’ representatives, and internal teams

  • Own project execution from handoff through completion, including schedule, coordination, communication, and follow-through

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure projects are aligned with company priorities, standards, and accountability expectations

  • Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, programmers, field technicians, lead technicians, and other stakeholders to keep projects on track

  • Ensure materials, labor resources, and information are ready when needed

  • Identify risks, gaps, and issues early, then drive them toward resolution before they escalate

  • Lead project communication internally and externally with professionalism, accuracy, and urgency

  • Maintain strong documentation and keep project information current in company systems

  • Review project scope, labor, and progress regularly to help protect execution quality and profitability

  • Support change order management, scheduling updates, closeout, and completion of project deliverables

  • Hold yourself and others accountable to commitments, deadlines, and next steps

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who sees project management as ownership, not administration. You know how to keep people aligned, spot problems early, follow through on commitments, and drive progress without drama or excuses. You are organized, professional, and steady under pressure. You do not wait to be told what to follow up on.

You likely fit this role if you:

  • Have experience managing projects in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment

  • Are comfortable being the person accountable for schedule, communication, coordination, and execution

  • Can manage multiple moving parts without letting details fall through the cracks

  • Know how to push when needed while still maintaining strong working relationships

  • Take pride in being proactive rather than reactive

  • Understand that strong documentation and follow-through are part of doing the job well

  • Can lead through accountability, clarity, and consistency

  • 3 years in project management, construction coordination, AV integration, low-voltage, or a related field

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining follow-through

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business/project tools

  • Ability to work on-site and coordinate effectively with field and office teams

Strongly Recommended Skills / Experience

  • Experience in commercial AV, lighting control, low-voltage, construction, or a related technical environment

  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades

  • Familiarity with project scheduling, change orders, procurement coordination, and job documentation

  • Experience working with ERP/CRM/project tracking systems

  • Ability to read plans, understand scope, and coordinate technical project details at a practical level

  • Exposure to platforms such as Lutron, Crestron, Q-Sys, Biamp, or similar systems

  • PMP, CTS, or similar credentials are a plus
