Camp Barge Assistant Cook/Housekeeper
Location: Ketchikan, Alaska
Season: April 20th – September 15th
Position Summary
The Assistant Cook / Housekeeper supports daily kitchen operations and maintains the cleanliness of living quarters aboard a remote 25-person camp barge. This dual-role position assists in preparing and serving three meals per day and providing a clean, comfortable living environment in a marine setting. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to work long hours in a remote location.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen and Food Service (Bull Cook)
- Assist with preparation of breakfast, dinner, and packed lunches
- Prepare baked goods, salads, soups, side dishes, and desserts
- Set up and break down serving areas
- Wash dishes and sanitize kitchen equipment and surfaces
- Assist with receiving and storing provisions
- Assist with inventory and supply counts
- Support deep cleaning schedules
Housekeeping Duties
· Clean and sanitize shared bathrooms, shower, and sinks
· Maintain dining area, hallways, and common spaces
· Empty trash
· Restock paper goods and hygiene supplies
· Wash/dry linens and make beds weekly
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous experience as a cook or assistant cook (camp, marine, lodge, or institutional setting preferred)
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to work long hours (10–12 hour days typical)
- Strong teamwork and positive attitude in close-quarters living
Preferred:
- Experience in remote camps, fishing lodges, logging camps, or oilfield camps
Compensation
- $300 - $350 per day
- 10 days on / 4 days off
- Room & board included
