This role will be responsible for routine maintenance and changes of existing Safety Chain audits. Additionally, this position will help integrate technology across critical areas, including food safety, quality assurance, process control, and product compliance. This is accomplished by aiding in the deployment and enhancement of the SafetyChain auditing system and leading continuous improvement efforts to maximize its efficiency and impact within the organization. By working closely with FSQA, operations, IT, and maintenance teams, the individual contributes to the development and implementation of innovative strategies that strengthen quality management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in creating, maintaining, modifying and improving FSQA quality, food safety, packaging, and operational audits within SafetyChain.
  • Provides support in implementing system updates as new features become available within SafetyChain and assist in optimizing the utilization of these features. Implement best practices in form creation as recommended by the SafetyChain development team.
  • Assists in developing and managing workflows within the SafetyChain system to streamline processes and improve efficiency on the plant floor.
  • Interacts with plant FSQA teams, IT, maintenance, safety, rendering, and other departments to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and transition paper-based processes into digital solutions.
  • Manages the work intake process for the SafetyChain workflow within the SharePoint Online (SPO) site, ensuring efficient tracking, prioritization, and assignment of tasks.
  • Maintains and updates existing SafetyChain audits to align with evolving plant requirements related to program updates, equipment changes and item changes from the Spec Change / PET workflows.
  • Assists as needed in the development and maintenance of FSQA reporting within the auditing software program. These FSQA reports will be used to monitor and/or verify compliance of quality, food safety and other plant programs, and customer expectations. Generated reports may be viewed and used by plant personnel, corporate personnel, and/or created specifically for a Seaboard customer.
  • Provides support for any additional technical projects as needed by the manager.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the Seaboard Triumph Foods FSQA website.
  • Travel to plants may be necessary to accomplish the above tasks.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in business, food science or related field preferred but not required. Must have sufficient experience to demonstrate thorough knowledge of technical aspects related to FSQA for the pork industry. Well-developed management skills to manage large, diverse teams effectively, applying strong leadership principles to foster collaboration and success. Must be comfortable interacting with diverse teams and be willing to facilitate discussions that lead to compromise and collective agreement.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be skilled in clear verbal communication for effective training to achieve adult learning. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write effective reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, and employees at all levels of the organization. Must have the ability to influence and persuade others.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as food safety files, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with technology vendors, sales, production, FSQA, and management personnel. Bilingual skills a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. The ideal candidate should possess basic mathematical skills, including the ability to perform fundamental arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Proficiency in working with percentages, fractions, and decimals is essential. The candidate should be capable of interpreting and analyzing simple numerical data and understanding basic algebraic concepts. Competence in using calculators and basic mathematical software is also required. Ability to provide critical analysis to audits and other data collected on products, procedures and programs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to see and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Strong leadership skills and the ability to advise, champion and uphold regulatory, company and customer standards at all levels of the organization. Strong decision making, experiment design, planning and project management skills needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the incumbent may stand and walk for extended periods of time and also must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
