POSITION SUMMARY:
Position entails overseeing equipment issues related to cost analysis and logistics needs, by analyzing costs logistics, availability of equipment both on-hire or off-hire and market trends as well as positioning or depleting equipment to balance our fleet efficiently. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
Required
- Possess three (3) years of prior experience in an ocean transportation or logistic company
- Familiarity with industry equipment to include containers, chassis, etc.
- Solid computer skills in MS Word & Outlook; Intermediate- Advanced in Excel.
- Solid verbal communications skills in English and Spanish with the ability to read and write effectively in a business environment in order to communicate with domestic and non-domestic offices.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time if needed.
- Strong analytical abilities in order to prepare and analyze equipment logistics.
- Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
- Ability to prepare a variety of reports.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures, including report driven decision.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from departmental managers or subdivisions regarding equipment availability.
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and possess strong initiative.
- Possess strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to prioritize.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees.
Preferred
- Equipment control experience.
- Bachelor degree.
- Ability to travel internationally.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use his fingers.
- The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear.
- The employee is continuously required to sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Equipment Control Management Director, Equipment Cost Manager and Equipment Logistics Manager. May request assistance of departmental clerical personnel in the performance of clerical duties; however, does not exercise supervision over any position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
- Leading ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies.
- Performing requirements analysis.
- Oversees projects, developing project plans, and monitoring performance.
- Updating, implementing, and maintaining procedures.
- Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
- Perform routine data analysis to identify, address and follow up potential issues
- Audits the controls for equipment in the assigned countries, with proper follow up until resolution of key problems.
- Reconciles inventories.
- Identify specific business opportunities.
- Perform negotiation for new equipment acquisitions.
CONDITIONS:
- Indoors office; exposed to controlled temperature and office environment.
- Some traveling domestic and overseas.
- Outside terminals and depots; exposed to weather elements and sometimes to rough terrain.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually busy (many phones in open cubicles).
