Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure for large scale land developments, master planned communities, mixed used projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements
- Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater conveyance, underground utility systems, erosion control, concrete flatwork, asphalt pavements, and hardscape systems
- Experience with:
- design of site-visibility at intersections, vehicular use areas, parking lots, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways
- the applicability of MUTCD, ADA standards, and Sunshine 811 markings
- preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans related to FDOT, water management districts, and various municipalities
- municipal zoning and variance hearings
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of five (5) years of civil/site development experience
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel on a variable schedule, including 50% of the time locally and 20% of the time overnight
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
- Ability to drive to site locations and fly on airplanes, at times at unpredictable hours
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
