HSE Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial, construction, or manufacturing safety, or a closely related field.
- Experience in power transmission environments is a plus.
- Associate degree or four years in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred or a professional safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, CUSP, CTSP, CSST, COSM, or COSS a plus.
- CPR/First Aid and OSHA 30 certifications required, or the ability to obtain them upon hire.
- Ability to travel between multiple local jobsites as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model safety as a company core value at all times.
- Collaborates with site supervisory personnel to identify and remedy unsafe working conditions.
- Conducts regular walk-through inspections and audits of construction area; This includes weekly checks. Spot Checks should include random checks on pre trips, worker knowledge on ERP, policies and procedures, equipment and pick up cleanliness, and PPE.
- Investigates accidents, incidents and near misses in conjunction with site supervisor and safety manager. Complete all reports efficiently and in a timely manner. Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Accompany all safety, health, and insurance inspectors on walk through tours; and ensure all
documentation is completed according to company & client safety processes and procedures.
- Participates in site safety meetings. This may involve you leading the meetings.
- Collaborates with client safety representatives in reviewing all safety documentation to ensure all
required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted timely.
- Assists the site team by executing the site safety program, which includes assuring compliance with all company and client rules.
- Ensures unsafe hazards/behaviors are identified and corrected in a timely manner on project sites.
- Complete all jobsite paperwork efficiently in a timely manner; this may include time summaries,
reports, equip/man hour tracking, site sign in/out, radio checks, recycling.
- Follows through with injury management; Comply with company's Return-to-Work policy.
- Reports daily to the HSE Manager with site progress, upcoming events, H&S issues and positive
feedback.
- Reviews subcontractor procedures and programs as required.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of OH&S legislation and codes of practice.
- Encourages and educates employees to take precautions and adhere to safety rules to protect
themselves and the equipment they use from damage.
- Conducts employee safety orientation.
- Performs other duties as required based on company’s needs.
