Independent Contractor Recruiter
Position Summary:
The Independent Contractor Recruiter is responsible for driving market engagement across assigned regions. This role shifts away from passive pipeline management and focuses on active outreach, recruiting, and engagement with Independent Contractors (ICs).
The IC Recruiter will be on the road most of the week, traveling to assigned areas to meet drivers and candidates where they are. The goal is to Recruit, Refine, Retain, and Reward quality Independent Contractors while building strong local partnerships and operational alignment.
This is what your week may look like:
Travel to assigned markets to conduct in-person recruitment and driver engagement.
Work closely with Recruiting Coordinator (RC) to advance candidates through the recruiting process (from applicants through onboarding).
Act as the primary recruiter and engagement lead for assigned markets.
Collaborate with Operations Managers, Safety, and Ambassadors on local driver engagement actions.
Document local observations: driver sentiment, competitor updates, referral activity, and forecasted staffing needs.
Provide weekly market engagement reporting (driver outreach, referrals, appreciation events, onboarding status, retention trends).
Core Market Engagement Responsibilities
Recruit
Drive in-market recruiting efforts through direct driver outreach, on-site visits, and field presence.
Solicit referrals weekly from active drivers and track referral activity.
Deploy localized marketing (signs, flyers, partner businesses) to build visibility.
Host recruiting sessions in assigned areas.
Refine
Pre-screen referred candidates to ensure alignment with company standards (availability, communication, professionalism, and experience).
Track and evaluate lead quality by source to prioritize strong referrals.
Partner with Operations to forecast staffing needs and adjust recruiting focus to meet market demand.
Retain
Maintain visibility and relationships in the market through consistent check-ins with new and at-risk drivers.
Monitor driver engagement and identify root causes of disengagement.
Partner with Operations, COB, and Ambassadors on coaching and retention strategies.
Reward
Partner with internal teams to plan and support driver appreciation events.
Recognize high-performing drivers in the field and promote them as role models to peers.
Actively encourage and recognize referrals as part of ongoing relationship-building.
What we require:
Minimum 2 years of college or equivalent experience.
Microsoft Office Suite, moderate Excel knowledge.
Strong experience in recruiting, staffing, logistics, or distribution industry preferred.
Proven experience in Independent Contractor Recruiting (minimum 3 years).
Previous Class A driving experience with a CDL preferred.
Strong interviewing and selection skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage with ICs in the field.
Analytical mindset with ability to use data to drive local recruiting and retention decisions.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
Ability and willingness to travel weekly (up to 80%) to assigned areas.
