Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Respond promptly to tenant service requests and building issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Respond promptly to building emergencies, including but not limited to power outages, HVAC failures, plumbing leaks, and other facility-related issues, ensuring swift resolution to minimize disruptions and maintain operational safety.
• Perform light carpentry tasks and painting as required.
• Must be available to work after hours and overtime as needed to ensure continuous facility operations.
• Participate in emergency preparedness drills and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety systems, including alarm testing and emergency power systems, etc.
• Work closely with the facilities team, property management, and contractors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC, mechanical, or electrical systems preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems required.
• 3 years of experience in facility maintenance required.
• The ability to fit solder and braze pipe up to 2 inches preferred.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management controls preferred.
• City of White Plains Refrigeration License preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics required.
• Applicable vocational training certifications preferred.
• Approved fire safety course certificate preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  
  

Work Environment

• Subject to hazards including but not limited to chemicals, noisy environments, varying temperatures.
• May be required to use step stools, ladders, and mobile work platforms in the performance of their duties.
