Job Summary
Scullery is seeking a highly reliable, skilled, and motivated Lead Barista to support day-to-day café operations across multiple locations in San Francisco. This is a mobile, floating position, and while driving is not required, daily, reliable mobility across the city is essential.
The Lead Barista plays a key role in ensuring smooth service, upholding our standards of hospitality, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and setting the tone for efficiency, urgency, and respect. You’ll bring expertise, consistency, and a leadership mindset to every shift—whether behind the bar, training new staff, or supporting our mobile espresso bar.

Key ResponsibilitiesCafé Leadership & Operations
- Lead by example in hospitality, workflow, cleanliness, and communication.
- Maintain consistency in espresso preparation, milk quality, dialing-in, and all beverage standards.
- Support multiple Scullery locations based on daily staffing needs.
- Open and/or close café locations independently with reliability and professionalism.
- Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and health department standards are consistently upheld.
- Support training and onboarding of new baristas.
- Maintain composure and problem-solve in busy service periods.
Mobile Espresso Bar & Events
- Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of Scullery’s mobile espresso bar for onsite corporate events.
- Prepare espresso drinks efficiently and professionally in high-volume, offsite environments.
- Provide warm, engaging hospitality to event clients and guests.
- Help maintain equipment cleanliness and transport supplies as needed (no personal vehicle required).
- Represent Scullery with professionalism when working outside of our café spaces.
Reliability & Mobility
- Arrive on time, prepared, and consistent—every shift, every location.
- Adapt to different teams, environments, and workflow styles.
- Communicate proactively with managers regarding scheduling needs, location changes, and daily duties.
Qualifications
- 2 years of specialty coffee experience (dialing-in, milk texture, espresso fundamentals).
- Prior leadership or shift lead experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong understanding of workflow, cleanliness, and bar efficiency.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 90 lbs.
- Reliable mobility within San Francisco—punctuality is essential.
- A passion for hospitality and specialty coffee.

Schedule
- Full-time role (30–40 hours/week)
- Must be available weekends and some early mornings
- Schedule varies based on staffing needs across locations and events
