Duties
- Greet customers warmly, listen to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document their needs.
- Prepare detailed repair estimates using estimating software and communicate them clearly to clients.
- Upsell additional services or repairs that enhance vehicle safety and performance, increasing shop revenue.
- Coordinate with service technicians to prioritize repairs, schedule work, and ensure timely completion.
- Explain repair procedures, costs, and timelines to customers in an understandable manner.
- Manage cash handling, invoicing, and processing payments efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain detailed records of all service transactions, customer interactions, and vehicle histories.
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics by understanding mechanical issues related to transmissions, brakes, suspension, tires, diesel engines, air brakes, alignments, shocks & struts, oil changes, collision repairs, and more.
- Promote additional services through effective sales techniques while ensuring customer needs are met with integrity.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Service Writer or in auto service management within a dealership or automotive repair environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, suspension components, tire services, diesel engines, and auto body repairs.
- Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools.
- Experience working with automotive diagnostics and understanding complex repair procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Prior experience in auto sales or upselling services is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed.
