What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asphalt Sales Representative position at Scruggs?
The Scruggs Company, a Georgia construction leader and part of Construction Partners, Inc., has an opening for an Asphalt Sales Representative in Valdosta.
This position will lead our relationships with external customers for 12 plants across the state. We are experiencing rapid growth and offer competitive pay and benefits, a positive work culture, and outstanding career advancement potential.
What you will do:.
- Create lasting customer relationships with current and potential customers for asphalt products in multiple regions within Georgia.
- Make direct calls to customers and assist with service, pricing, order taking, and product training as needed.
- Market products and services to new accounts such as contractors, subcontractors, developers, and government agencies to earn new business.
- Follow through on potential sales leads including obtaining necessary information such as product specifications and project take-offs.
- Develop product knowledge through value added sales, trade shows, customer questions, and product quality resolution to identify best product for customer needs.
- Prepare quotes/bids for projects using appropriate worksheets and software programs that provide company unit prices.
- Follow through on customer satisfaction on jobs awarded. Monitor product quality during delivery and installation.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and managers, along with field personnel.
- Deliver materials samples to project owner and/or engineer when required
- Immediately report concerns regarding billing, credit, delivery, and quality of product to appropriate internal departments and coordinate meetings with other departments as needed to address customer concerns.
- Read trade journals, newspapers, and other publications to be informed of new developments in the construction industry, government, or the community.
- Assists Accounts Receivable professionals to retrieve payments from customers as necessary to prevent COD status of late charges.
The selected candidate should be available for overnight travel on an as needed basis.
What you will need:
- 4-year degree preferred but not required
- Asphalt experience preferred
- The ability to learn details of the asphalt industry is required.
- Professional-level software understanding is required.
- Effective communication skills are required.
- A high bias for action and customer-service orientation is required.
- Project Management tools preferred.
- Ability to read and understand drawings.
- Ambition to grow with the company and management skills is highly preferred.
