Responsibilities
- Provide professional grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and styling tailored to each pet’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs and other small animals with gentle confidence, ensuring their safety and comfort through proper animal restraint techniques
- Assess each pet’s health and temperament before grooming; communicate any concerns or health issues to pet owners or veterinary staff when necessary
- Maintain a clean and sanitized grooming area, tools, and equipment to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety
- Assist with pet handling during vet visits or other procedures when required, utilizing skills in animal restraint and handling
- Support pet owners by offering advice on grooming routines, pet care tips, and behavioral training as appropriate
- Manage appointment schedules efficiently to ensure timely service delivery while maintaining a positive customer experience
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians or assistants if veterinary experience or additional animal care skills are present, contributing to overall animal well-being
Experience
- Prior experience in pet grooming is highly preferred; certification from a recognized grooming program is a plus
- Demonstrated ability in dog handling and pet care across various breeds and temperaments
- Experience working with veterinary professionals such as veterinary technicians or assistants is advantageous
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques, pet sitting, kennel experience, or heavy lifting related to animal care is beneficial
