General Description
The Scripps Clinic Medical Group Department of Pathology is seeking a full time Pathologist Assistant to support the anatomic pathology activities of the Department.
Scripps Clinic Medical Group is a premier multispecialty medical group with over 1000 physicians serving the San Diego, California area. The Department of Pathology employs approximately 24 pathologists, 7 pathologist assistants and 3 grossing assistants. The Department provides anatomic pathology services for 3 acute care hospitals as well as multiple outpatient clinics in the San Diego /La Jolla area. Key Responsibilities
• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens.
• Perform frozen sections
• Supervision of grossing assistants
• Provide assistance to pathologists as needed during on-call hours
Skills/ Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position
• Graduation from a National Accrediting agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Pathologist Assistant training program is preferred
• A current license/certification as a Pathologist Assistant with either AAPA or ASCP
• At least 1 year of experience as a certified Pathologist Assistant in an anatomic pathology laboratory
Benefits
· Competitive salary ($156,000 – $162,000 base pay annually)
