TITLE: Library Media Aide
CLASSIFICATION: Operational Support Staff
PAY GRADE 7: $16.05 to $17.15 hourly (based on education and experience)
LENGTH: 7 hours daily / 185 days yearly
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and voluntary benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- (2) years of experience in this or a related field of employment
- Clerical skills to include typing, filing, and inventory maintenance
- Good technical aptitude that includes the ability to learn computer skills, copying and printing, and telecommunication skills
- Must enjoy working with students, get along well with people and have the ability to do self-directed work
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes new materials: preparing books, periodicals and non-print resources for shelves; entering bibliographic catalog data.
- Ability to provide typing/keyboarding instruction to students.
- Checks in and shelves materials; recording and maintaining circulation statistics.
- Conducts annual inventory and withdraw of materials.
- Assists students and teachers to locate and check out materials.
- Prepares correspondence, overdue notices, requisitions, bibliographies, newsletters, and statistical reports.
- Instructs teachers and select students in operation and simple maintenance of equipment.
- Assists in preparing non-print and instructional materials, exhibits and bulletin boards/display areas.
- Creates and maintains an attractive and inviting environment.
- Assists with reader and research services for students and staff.
- Promotes a positive relationship with students, staff and community.
- Works with/supervises student assistants and parent volunteers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or other designee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
