About Screenplay
Screenplay Services is a fast-growing wholesale apparel decoration company (screen printing, embroidery, heat press, DTF, DTG). We are building a custom internal production and order management system to improve efficiency, replace outdated software, and support multi-million-dollar annual growth.
We are seeking a part-time Technical Project Manager to provide structure, accountability, and momentum to the development of this system as we approach our January 2026 Phase 1 launch, and into Phase 2 next year.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role working directly with the Founder/CEO and our lead developer.
About the Role
We are looking for a mid-level, highly organized, technically literate PM who has real experience guiding small software projects, especially where a solo developer is building a system from scratch.
The PM will introduce and manage:
2-week sprint cycles
Clear requirements
Acceptance criteria
Deliverable definitions
Staging demos
Documentation
Momentum and accountability
Clarity around developer pay tied to deliverables
This role will help ensure the project stays on track, on budget, and on timeline.
Responsibilities
Sprint & Project Management
Build and manage a clear product backlog
Run 2-week sprint cycles
Facilitate weekly check-ins with the developer
Lead Friday demo meetings showing visible progress
Identify blockers early and remove bottlenecks
Maintain documentation of decisions, changes, and feature scope
Requirements & Documentation
Translate business needs into clear, actionable tickets
Write user stories and detailed acceptance criteria
Break complex features into small, demo-able deliverables
Maintain updated project documentation, specs, and workflows
Deliverable-Based Compensation Support (Critical)
Partner with the CEO to define deliverables, attach acceptance criteria, break down tasks, and help create a clear deliverable-based compensation structure for the developer.
Ensure deliverables are:
measurable
demo-able
testable
fair in scope
aligned with budget
This line is essential and must be owned confidently.
Quality Assurance & Testing
Build basic QA checklists for each deliverable
Test features in staging before presenting to the CEO
Ensure accepted work meets quality and functionality expectations
Communication & Reporting
Serve as the bridge between CEO and developer
Provide clear weekly project status reports
Maintain transparency around progress, risks, and timelines
Hold the development process to high accountability without conflict
Requirements
Must-Have
3 years of experience managing software development projects
Experience working with solo developers or small dev teams
Strong technical literacy (not a coder, but understands dev workflows)
Direct experience running Agile or sprint-based workflows
Ability to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria
Exceptional organizational and communication skills
Ability to hold people accountable kindly and professionally
Nice-to-Have
Experience with internal tools or custom SaaS development
Familiarity with manufacturing, logistics, or workflow systems
Light understanding of QA or UI/UX
Experience with ClickUp, Jira, Trello, or other PM tools
Experience in small business environments
