Responsibilities
- Prioritize and uphold strict safety standards
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently
- Safely operate quarry heavy equipment transport materials from the pit to the plant or stockpiles.
- Conduct thorough pre-and post-operation inspections, reporting findings in compliance with policies
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed
- Operate equipment with a high level of skill, accuracy, and efficiency
- Adhere to all company policies and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and dispatch.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and early shifts as required.
- Ability to work in outdoor and underground environments under various weather conditions.
- Must pass a drug screening and comply with the company's Substance-Free Workplace Policy.
- At least 1 year of experience operating haul trucks or similar heavy equipment (e.g., articulated trucks, rigid-frame trucks).
- Familiarity with quarry equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, and scales.
- Previous experience working in a quarry environment (loaders, trucks, excavators)
- Climbing: Must be physically capable of safely climbing in and out of equipment that is greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily.
- Heights: Ability to climb and work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet.
- Balance: Must maintain stability while standing and walking on potentially slick or uneven surfaces, sometimes while carrying equipment or materials.
- Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
- Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
- Awkward positions: Ability to transition between sitting, standing, and kneeling on the ground as required.
- Heavy lifting: Ability to lift and maneuver awkward parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Conditions: Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Must be adaptable to changing environmental factors and the demands of an active quarry operation.
