Opportunities available: Sealcoat, Paving and Crackfilling.

This position includes but is not limited to providing assistance in the proper application of asphalt surfacing to roads, parking lots, driveways, etc. by performing a variety of duties. Laborers may be required to work with different crews and/or different areas throughout the season.

Duties Include:

  • Rake, broom, shovel and clean road surface to be sealed.
  • Distribute or pick up overlaps and piles of cover aggregate.
  • Perform quality cold patching.
  • Load, secure and unload other vehicles or equipment, traffic control, etc.
  • Read and interpret road and township maps.
  • Comply with all Company policies, rules, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including applicable DOT Hazardous Materials regulations.
  • Maintain hand tools and other equipment.
  • Remain in contact with the foreman to receive any directions, such as changes due to weather related conditions by use of the Company communication systems (two-way radio).
  • Attend all safety meetings.
  • Identify and communicate work related dangers and damages to the foreman.


Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver License. Wisconsin Commercial Driver License (CDL), including classes ABCD and endorsements HN preferred. Satisfactory driving record.
  • Employee must comply with applicable DOT, OSHA, CDL and any other regulatory required certification or recertification requirements, including physical exams and drug/alcohol tests.
  • Employee must be able to work with minimal supervision, be flexible, cooperative and take initiative; work well under pressure, plan, be resourceful, and well organized; maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and be polite and professional with the general public; maintain a professional approach towards work and a positive attitude and philosophy consistent with Company standards.


Environmental/ Working Conditions

  • Radiant energy, fumes, mists, gases, dust, pollens, insects, plants, toxic or caustic chemicals, construction equipment, and fast moving vehicles may be found around the work area. The work area is subject to vibration. The work area is subject to loud noises for extended periods of time. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places.


Hours and Availability

  • This is normally a full-time seasonal position and hours for this position are established as needed to complete the assigned workload. Additional hours, including Saturdays and overnight stays a distance from home, are often required to meet the seasonal needs of our business and to meet certain requirements of the Company. Employee must maintain scheduled attendance at work.

Salary: $20.80-22.70

We also offer in-house CDL training and licensing!

REASONING ABILITY: Employee must be able to exercise sound judgement and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written, by phone, two-way radio, in person or through written correspondence; speak effectively with co-workers; and keep accurate, thorough, and timely records and reports.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Employee must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret graphs.

EDUCATION: Employee must have obtained a High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver License.
