Duties
- Greet customers warmly, offering expert advice on pet products, nutrition, and accessories to enhance their shopping experience
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring product availability and presentation are appealing
- Conduct product demonstrations and educate customers on features and benefits of various pet supplies to promote sales
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently for transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and returns
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, conducting stock counts, and replenishing items as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions via phone or in person with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Support upselling efforts by recommending complementary products that meet customer needs while enhancing sales goals
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization to create a safe, inviting shopping environment for both customers and pets
Skills
- Previous retail sales experience with proficiency in POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Supervising experience or leadership skills to support team initiatives and store operations
- Ability to demonstrate products confidently through demos to educate customers effectively
- Strong phone etiquette combined with excellent communication skills for clear, friendly interactions
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques to optimize product placement and store layout
- Experience in stocking shelves, inventory management, and retail math for accurate stock control
- Familiarity with pet supply environments is a plus
- Customer service orientation with a positive attitude and problem-solving capabilities
- Basic math skills necessary for transactions, sales calculations, and inventory counts
