Revenue Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Revenue Accounting Manager will be a central and vital part of Sciton’s global revenue operations function, reporting directly to the Director of Revenue. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our revenue accounting and order-to-cash operations. The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership and accounting expertise, with a passionate focus on continuous improvement of processes and controls.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee revenue booking, reconciliation, analysis, and recordkeeping to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with ASC 606, GAAP, and internal policies.
- Review customer contracts and transactions to assess revenue recognition implications and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and support SOX 404 requirements related to revenue processes.
- Prepare and review revenue-related schedules, reports, and disclosures for internal and external reporting.
- Manage revenue-related month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Prepare and submit required revenue reports, analyses, and filings in accordance with accounting standards and company deadlines.
- Partner/collaborate with Cost Accounting, GL, Salesforce, Sales Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve revenue-related issues, clarify contract terms, and/or improve upstream processes.
- Serve as a key point of contact for revenue accounting matters during audits and special projects.
- Manage, develop, and mentor revenue accounting staff; provide day-to-day direction, performance feedback, and coaching.
- Ensure departmental goals and milestones are met while adhering to approved budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of revenue accounting processes and systems.
- Assist with the implementation or enhancement of accounting systems, tools, and documentation related to revenue.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience in public/private industry, including public accounting (Big 4), with a minimum of 3 years directly related to revenue recognition/operations.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and at various levels within the company.
- 1–3 years of supervisory or people management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP regarding revenue recognition (ASC 606) in a complex operating environment.
- Excellent time management skills, self-starter orientation, and ability to operate with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Aptitude for suggesting new ideas and driving process improvements in an increasingly complex environment.
- Detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills are required, with the ability to work with, analyze, and interpret large volumes of transactional data.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $160k - $180k. The final offer will be based on factors such as relevant experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, Sciton provides an opportunity to participate in equity/stock incentive programs, a profit-sharing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package, including 401K with matching.
