What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Analyst I position at Scissortail Laboratory, LLC?
We are a cannabis testing laboratory in Albuquerque, NM looking to fill three open positions in the lab. We have been involved with testing cannabis since 2015 and have always strived to produce quality analytical data for the cannabis industry. This is our newest location, so there is plenty of room for advancement within the company. Pay is commensurate with experience. We offer PTO and healthcare benefits.
Overview

-Sample Intake and Receptionist-
You will be answering phone calls and accepting samples from clients. Ability to multi-task and to maintain composure during stressful situations is paramount.
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and answer basic company questions or direct calls to appropriate personnel
- Receive samples from clients
- Login samples to online system
- Relay client expectations to the laboratory
- Assist with sample preparation as necessary
-Microbial Analyst I-
You will be preparing samples for analysis, analyzing samples using agar plating and microscopy. A science background is encouraged. You will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and to perform necessary tasks. Identification of microbial species and the ability to follow manufacturer's instructions is paramount.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples using multiple prep methods depending on sample type.
- Plate samples onto compact dry plates using serial dilution.
- Create slides and identify organisms using microscopy.
- Perform necessary troubleshooting.
- Perform laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
- Organize and store substances, fluids and consumables according to safety instructions
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
- Ensure that all safety and quality control guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
-Organics Analyst I-
You will be preparing samples for analysis, analyzing samples using HPLC, GC/MS, and GC/FID. A science background is encouraged. You will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and to perform necessary tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples using multiple prep methods depending on sample type.
- Load samples on instrumentation using a variety of software programs on analytical instrumentation.
- Perform necessary instrument maintenance.
- Perform laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
- Organize and store chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
- Ensure that all safety and quality control guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
