This position will focus on providing laboratory technician and equipment management services to operate and maintain numerous ionizing radiation sources. The duties will include:
- Working as a skilled technician in maintaining source certification, calibration dosimetry for all sources, and applying radiation dosimetry to experiments
- Guiding electronics and materials experiments in the fabrication and integration of test structures
- Maintaining source qualification and compliance with regulations
- Developing and integrating instrumentation for experiments
- Writing test plans for radiation experiments
- Apply knowledge of electronics, physics of radiation, and instrumentation to properly run experiments in the laboratory with the assistance of staff scientists and engineers.
- Contributes to overall evaluation and determination to ensure the facilities are operating within prescribed standards and tolerances.
- Assists in developing and recommending changes in procedures and technical instructions to ensure more efficient operations and/or reduction in maintenance time.
- Assists in ensuring the Radiation Effects Laboratory uses safe practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensures compliance with Air Force instructions associated with radiation safety.
- Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
- Follows federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards.
- Maintains mandated programs including the Lock Out Tag Out program, documentation for Occupational Health, MSDS, Laboratory Safety Lessons, among other programs.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Must possess a high-school diploma
- Experience in laboratory technical work, management and/or operations
- Experience operating electronics measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
- Ability to pass random drug testing; this is a drug testing designated position
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance eligibility
- >1-2 years experience in electronics laboratory technical work, management and/or operations
- Basic understanding of ionizing (NOT radio-frequency (RF)) radiation
- Experience with LabView, MatLab, and/or programming languages (e.g., Python)
