I'm currently partnering with an innovative clinical-stage biotechnology company seeking either an Executive Director or Vice President, Head of Pipeline Program Management to lead its global program management organization and play a critical role in shaping portfolio strategy across a growing oncology pipeline.
This is not a traditional project or program management position. The successful individual will function as a strategic Global Program/Asset Leader, serving as the "CEO" of key development programs and driving enterprise-wide decisions that influence portfolio strategy, development planning, and long-term asset value.
Reporting into executive R&D leadership, this highly visible role will oversee the global program management function while directly leading one to two priority development programs from early development through commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the global Program Management function across the development portfolio.
- Serve as the strategic Global Program/Asset Leader for one to two priority assets, driving cross-functional execution and long-term development strategy.
- Lead critical portfolio decisions, including prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and development planning.
- Establish governance frameworks and decision-making processes that support pipeline optimization.
- Partner with Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory, CMC, Commercial, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Develop standardized program management methodologies, KPIs, and operating processes across a global organization.
- Provide executive leadership with portfolio-level insights on program health, risks, opportunities, and strategic trade-offs.
Ideal Background
- 15 years of experience within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Leadership experience within biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical organizations.
- Strong early-stage development experience (IND-enabling through Phase I), with broader clinical development experience across later phases considered highly desirable.
- Oncology drug development experience.
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent).
Preferred Experience
- Cell & Gene Therapy and/or CAR-T programs.
- In vivo therapeutic platforms.
- Global development leadership across international teams.
- Late-stage or registrational development experience.
- Immunology experience.
- MBA and/or PMP certification.
Salary : $350,000 - $390,000
