Tax Senior

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Tax Senior for a growing public accounting firm backed by an organization investing in and expanding established accounting practices. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity based in Raleigh, North Carolina, offering a competitive salary of $120,000–$160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys complex client work but is looking for a more collaborative, relationship-driven environment. The Tax Senior will work closely with firm leadership and clients, providing tax compliance, planning, and advisory support to individuals, business owners, and privately held companies.

The ideal candidate brings a strong public accounting foundation, excellent technical tax knowledge, and the ability to independently manage client engagements while collaborating with colleagues across the firm. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and other business entities.
• Manage tax engagements from planning through completion while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
• Partner directly with clients to understand their financial circumstances and provide thoughtful tax planning and advisory support.
• Research complex tax matters and stay current on changes to federal and state tax regulations.
• Review work prepared by junior team members and provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with firm leadership to strengthen client relationships, improve processes, and support the continued growth of the practice.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Approximately 5 years of progressive tax experience, preferably within public accounting.
• CPA license strongly preferred; CPA candidates with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation for individuals and business entities.
• Experience with professional tax and accounting software; CCH Axcess experience is highly valued.
• Strong communication, organizational, and client relationship skills with the ability to independently manage multiple engagements and deadlines.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
