Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Senior Operations Manager for an established independent school in Makawao, HI. This is a full-time, temporary, 100% onsite opportunity anticipated to run through December 18, 2026, providing critical operational leadership during an executive transition.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Interim Senior Operations Manager will provide operational and people leadership while maintaining stability and continuity during an important leadership transition. Reporting to the Head of School, this individual will oversee a five-person operations and administrative leadership team spanning finance, office administration, admissions/advancement/communications, facilities and IT, and athletics.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations leader who can quickly enter an established organization, build trust, assess priorities, solve problems, and keep day-to-day operations moving effectively. School-specific experience is not required; strong general operations and people leadership experience is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, support, and establish priorities for a five-person operations and administrative team while maintaining continuity, accountability, and momentum throughout the leadership transition.
- Oversee day-to-day school operations, including schedules, calendars, logistics, activities, events, facilities, technology support, vendors, campus readiness, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness.
- Provide supervisory oversight of the Finance Manager and operational budgets while supporting budget planning, expenditures, and responsible financial stewardship.
- Support admissions and enrollment operations, including systems, scheduling, tours, open houses, events, family communications, and enrollment pipeline visibility.
- Ensure athletics, student activities, school events, and community programs have the facilities, logistics, staffing coordination, materials, and operational infrastructure necessary to run effectively.
- Maintain continuity of administrative systems and processes and prepare a comprehensive written transition brief and handoff for incoming leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of progressively responsible operations leadership experience, including demonstrated experience supervising and developing professional staff.
- Proven experience overseeing facilities, vendors, and operational budgets.
- Strong people leadership, organizational, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly assess an unfamiliar environment, operate independently, establish priorities, and lead effectively without an established playbook.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; prior experience within a school, nonprofit, mission-driven organization, interim leadership environment, or organizational transition is preferred but not required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This exciting temporary opportunity pays $38.46–$45.67 per hour, depending on experience.
