What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Sprinkler Apprentice position at Sciens Building Solutions?
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
- Assist with coordination and installation of overhead sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipes, and hose systems.
- Attend and participate in weekly job site safety meetings.
- Learn and assist in reading and interpreting blueprints, to help install prefabricated fire sprinkler piping.
- Occasionally communicate with various contractors and trades to ensure projects stay on time and on budget.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Desire to enroll in Sprinkler Fitter apprentice program and grow within the Fire and Life Safety industry.
- Self-starter; able to work independently but also demonstrate the ability to be a team player with a can-do attitude.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Willing to learn how to read and comprehend blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
- Willing to learn how to thread and groove pipe.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 Certification.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills
- Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
- Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening. Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
