SANY’s Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship is excited to announce the opening of a School Guidance Counselor (Grades K-6) for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
We are looking for a dynamic and creative School Guidance Counselor. We have a great environment for new staff members and encourage experienced staff to apply! New York State Certification required.
We need School Guidance Counselor who will:
Must be skilled at working with K-5 school grades who may have emotional, family or scholastic difficulties.
Have good communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with school staff, families and community members.
Ability to problem-solving is critical for this position, as school counselors must resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.
Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirement for the instructional goals, objectives and methods
Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities

What you need
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling required; Master's degree preferred
NYS Counseling Certification
Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus
Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply!
Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
